Cricket Investigation

Introduction and Background Research:
Crickets are very interesting creatures.Crickets need a variety of materials in order to stay alive. They need food to eat, they also need water, warmth, and a god place to lay their eggs. Crickets are omnivore meaning they eat both plants and meat. Such as fungi, decaying plant materials as well as organic materials. They almost feed on anything. The difference between a male or a female is that

Question: Do crickets prefer fruits and vegetable?

Hypothesis:
I have a very strong hypothesis and I think that it will bring great success. My hypothesis is that crickets will eat both fruits and vegetables because they are omnivore and to define that term which means that animal or creature that eats both plant and meat.

Experimental Setup illustration:

On the right side you will see what my group and I has been working on for a few days. We had to investigate a crickets by creating a testable question which was : do crickets preferr fruits over vegatable? Well our data table said it all. On the bottom right you will see a data table, the method we chose to use was the trail method we chose that specific method because it was the most easiest task to accomplish. My hypothesis was that crickets will eat both plants and meats because they are ominovers. Well was my hypothesis correct? My hypothesis was correct because the cricket eat bot fruit and vegtable however the cricket seems to preferr fruit more and I guess it is more sweeter.

CONCLUSION:

In this investigation I have learned how to use different methods when I was invloved in an investigation on the observation of crickets.Hopefuly we can study more investigations and write more testable question and work  it out by using on of the methods that David,Nik, and Jamie showed us.

This week In science #6

This week in science I observed crickets. Isn't that cool! This week observed the crickets and how they were active and nonactive. We had a chart and tracked down the data on how they moved. Then we observed what we saw and the things we observed. The things I observed was that their anthena's are always moving. Another interesting thing that I have learned is that when crickets die their two hind legs are flat on the floor and some crickets feed on the dead. Then I moved on to a new topic which was how to create a dichotomous key. This was a very hard task to accomplish. We had objects and we had to make  which was in two different groups and create question that refers to that object then put it on the yes and no scale. We had  to create two different types which was a flow chart and a a lifestyle chart. It was had but I accomplish it.
I have learned many, many, many things in science such as how to create a dichotomous key and how to observe crickets. It was a fun but crazy week and I hope that we could me more active with different types of animals. Next week I can't wait to see what David, Nik and Jamie had in store for us I such a nature walk and I hope that it is fun.:)

This week in science #5

I am truely in love with science. It is one of the subjects I look foward to going to every day because I get to expess my feelings by exploring and having fun while I do it. This week in science I had to complete my "Rocket Investigation" conclusion. It was a whole procedure where we had to use what David calls the  "Conclusion Helper" to make a conclusion that is very organize and has as much details as possible. Now we are just started a new topic YAH! We are studying animal behavior OMG.. it is such a good topic and even though I dont like bugs it is still interesting to me.
Right about now we are studying animal behavior. Then we watch videos and had to analysis what we observed.however we studied a specific insect which was a cricket. In this investigation we had to see how well we could observer what kind of behavior the cricket is doing and what do we wonder in our mind about this animal's behavior. then we had to draw a breif discription of what we observed. I was amazed to see that when crickets died their hin legs are always laying flat on the ground but all their other legs are up.
