TWIS #13

Objective: If we were to add five more spiders to your spider habitat tank, what would happen? And why? Use these terms in your explanation: glucose, photosynthesis, energy, carbon dioxide, oxygen.

If you were to add five more spiders the habitat that we have provided for our spider(London) then the spider might live. I state this as my hypothesis  because in a ecosystem thier is a cycle. This cycle goes like this; the sun gives light to the damp soil that is filled with H2O which make producers (plants). They are autotroph in other words makes their own food. From there the producers goes into the next stage that produces glucose which is sugar. The glucose helps the seedling grow because it gives the seedling the extra carbon that is need. After that, the consumer which is meat eaters and also considered a heterotoph because it cannot make its own food and have to depend on other organisms to live. However it helps the cycle because it gives the autotrophs Co2(carbon dioxide) and the autotroph helps them by producing O2(oxgen) back. This is the cycle of photoosynthesis, which is green plants, algae and some bacteria use light energy from the sun to convert carbon dioxide and water into chemical energy in the form of glucose (sugar). In the process, oxygen is released into the atmosphere. Therefore the spider will live because of the elements hat is in the cycle. Therefore without one element it could throw the whole cycle of because they all depend on each others for the supply that is needed.

Human Impact Ad Campaign

In science class we have a logo that is "To much car Transportation; Should be an Allegation; Lets Save The Nation'. In the pictures I have on my blogger shows how the earth is cracking because of all the earth pollution. Everyday a car gives pollution it brings out carbon dioxide and the earth is crumbling in small pieces everyday.

The Brooklyn Paper

This Brooklyn paper is about the government spending over 140,000 dollars on legal fees to defend the Prospect Park bike lane. Basically it is about the government getting over raged at the fact that they are having to pay money on the bikers lane however the lawsuit , which last year earned international headlines ,and argued that th bike lane turned the peaceful bike lane into a harzdous bike lane for perdestarins.

I think that they should have more bike lanes and less cars or use healthier gasolines to for the envrinmonet. I say this as my opinion because if we use heathier gasoline or reduce cars then we be a healthier planet and not have to live in global warming like we are today. I always wondered if people know that they are destroying the planet and how are they trying to change the way we live now? Do you think we could have healthier gasolines runing through the air because we are dying bit by bit everyday and it iis bad for the environment and also bad for us too.

This Week in Science #9

This week in science I have dissected a specific fish named a perch. I was a life changing experience for how I would act towards Science. In science class the task of the week was dissection and identifying  parts such as the dorsal, the ventral the side vie and the mouth parts. They had 4 selections of animals that e could have picked. In this dissection me and my partner had picked a perch and we had to find out the sex of it. Turns out it was a male because it only have one fin on the ventral( the bottom). Also we had ti draw a illustration of the dorsal of the ventral view and label.
This week in scince we leard alot of sceintific details about dissection. This week in scince was a very fun and excited week for me because I had to dissect a organism and lable the parts. It was very weird because we had to use scientific language because our teacher didn't want us to be calling parts of animals  he butt or underneath it the bottom part; But the proper wrod for that  would be the ventral view where the anus is located. This weekin science I have learned alot and I would wanna keep learning more about it because it gets weird and I like weird.
We had a task to compare and contrast the forms and functions of our and our table mates' organisms. The organism that my pair and I had was a Perch which is  a type of fish that lives in fresh water. Their skin tend to be rough to cut through cut through and at the skate was really heard to cut through as well.  Both animals were marine animals meaning that they liverd in water. Therfore they had tails and fins that helps them breath underwater. The differences was that the skate body was much bigger than the perch's body and the skate eyes were internal with the ventral view and the perch eye was out side  nearthe dorsal view.

This Week In Science #8

A couple of  days ago I had to dissect  a crayfish. It was a mouth watering experience however during this procedure we has to find different part of the cray fish (which is a arthropod) such as the dorsal view which is is the back of the crayfish, the ventral view which is the front of the crayfish, the mouth parts and the side view. In this dissection we had to find the posterior or anterior  for our arthropod. We had to label and proximal (which is to describe the location of a part.) During this project we had to cut open the crayfish on the ventral view. Inside of the cray fish I spotted many features such as the heart and all of it's organs. But in order for a cray fish adaptation it had to have different features of its body. In these pictures above you see the side view and the mouth parts. As can you see in the pictures I labeled the antenna because that is a big feature of a crayfish because with out they antenna's they love the sense which is also one of their organs  to locate. The following picture above shows the crayfish on the side view  it shows the cheliped and the cheliped is important as well because with out a cheliped how would the crayfish ever eat and catch its prey.
During this project I have learned how to use a scalpel which is a special dissecting knife to cut through flesh.(Yes!It does work.) I learned that when you use a scalpel you have to be care full before you cut through the organs of and animal. In the beginning of this project I was very disgusted  with the smell and the way the arthropod looks but I have learned to go in to depths with this animal and just look at all the interesting parts and different locations of this arthropod. I was always puzzled with questions such as; Do arthropod have white blood cells that fight bacteria just like we do? Do all arthropods have four legs and is an ex-so skeleton? All these amazing questions cant wait to see what what is the answer to my question.

This week in Science #7

This month in science I have been working on a very intense project. It was a lot of stress but
I put my all in to it. We learned about biomes. A biome is different parts of the earth that consists of climate, location, vegetation and landforms. Through out this process my group and I had to create a presentation where we picked one biome. Our biome was a tropical island named Chirstmas Island.  However we had gotten a letter 100,000 years to the future stating that our biome has changed to a winter island. Therefore we had to create a mythical creature of our own that could live in a type of environment. After that we had to create a screen shot which is narrating about the slides as to what we did. Finally my group  had to grade our classmate presentation and give feed back as to what you liked and what we  think that they should fix.
As I was doing this project I have learned many things. I have learned how to make a screen cast and and narrating my voice. I have also learned how to make a presentation that suits the rubric that was given to us through out David's and Jamie's mini lessons. Through out this experience I had a lot of fun with my group there was no miss understandings but the only problem we what was that we need tot have another screen casting to make our presentation worthwhile. All of us put all our effort and we work together as a team.
